8pm on Saturday 8th September, and we leave home for what will be the last Open-Air metal show of the year. Our good buddy Weird Al (Aliminator) is with Mrs Hydra and myself as we set off on the one hour drive down to Reiden, Luzern, to the BACK TO ROCK Festival. As usual when we go to concerts, only one band is of interest to us (is it just me, or do you never get two good bands at one concert anymore?), and tonight it is Legendary Thrashers SODOM who have our full attention.

Unfortunately, driving duties are handed to me for the way down to the show, meaning Al has to drink a few for me too. We locate the Festival site quite easily, and proceed into the site for a few beers and some (pretty damned good!) food. The site itself is excellent, and a good view of the stage was possible no matter where you were standing.

While sipping said beers, we notice that there is quite a long line of SODOManiacs queuing at the right-hand side of the stage, so we stroll over to see what's up. Turns out that SODOM are doing a signing session. Cool!!! We've had a bit of a habit of meeting TOM & the boys over the years, so after a quick HELLo, SODOM sign our tickets, etc, and let us take a few pix. Respect, Dudes!!

Another mandatory few beers, and we make our way to front row, SODOM are due on at 12 midnight. Cool!! We have seen this band live many, many times over the years, so we are safe in the knowledge that we are in for a good show.

SODOM looked good, sounded good and delivered a blistering 90 minute set-list packed full with classic songs. Music from all era's of SODOM was performed, and all sounded excellent! Lots of headbanging action, and a very good audience response for the band.

Afterwards, spent a very enjoyable hour or so talking with the band backstage, and enjoying some fine beer courtesy of Mr ANGELRIPPER himself. Cheers Dude!!

Those of you who have read other reviews of concerts we have attended will know that a concert for us rarely passes without something weird or crazy happening. Well, this was rather amazing even by our standards. As we were backstage, both us, Al and TOM all ran out of cigarettes. First, Al went to buy some only to be told that all ciggies were sold out! Then I had a go, and after asking just about everyone at the festival if they could sell us some cigarettes, I finally met a security guy who lead me to his mobile home, where he had a carton of smokes. He sold me two packs, nice one! So us and SODOM had a smoke with our last beers of the evening! It's only Rock'n'Roll I guess....
